TAKSTAR SM-1B is a cardioid polar pattern, single large diaphragm condenser microphone with exceptionally low self-noise and very high output. The 3-micron-thick vapor-deposited gold diaphragm provides accurate reproduction of even the most subtle sounds, especially high frequency signals not easily reproduced by conventional large diaphragm condenser transducers. It may be used with confidence in a wide variety of professional applications such as television studios, recording studios, broadcasting stations, shows on stage, etc.

A switchable 10dB built-in (nominal) pad and low frequency attenuation can handle very high sound pressure levels with ease and reduce the pickup of low-frequency ambient noise (i.e. on stage shows). It also allows undistorted reproduction of high sound pressure level signals at all frequencies, which makes it an ideal choice for percussion and guitar recording.

The integrated three-stage mesh grille protects the microphone from accidental damage and reduces plosives and breath noise. Its standard XLR (F) connector matches all kinds of audio equipment. The unit is packed in an aluminum carrying case with shaped sponge inside. There are three types of sets: SM-L, SM-M, SM-S, varying in the amount of items packed.
